How old do I need to be before I can drive?
You need to be 17 years old, however if you are receiving disability living allowance at the higher rate your provisional licence will come into effect when you are 16, in this instance you can apply for your licence up to 3 months before your 16th birthday.
What do I need so I can start to learn to drive?
To learn to drive you must have a provisional driving licence; you can apply up to 3 months before your 17th birthday.
What car will I learn to drive in?
ASM - Abermule School of Motoring regularly change the school car so that you learn to drive in one of the newest cars on the road. Presently we have a new Mini Cooper D, this vehicle is very user friendly for students to learn to drive in whilst being environmentally friendly.
Is ASM – Abermule School of Motoring an ADI Approved Driving Instructor?
Yes, ASM is proud to be an ADI Approved Driving Instructor and registered with the DSA – Driving Standards Agency. You will see the green ADI certificate on the front windscreen of the ASM - Abermule School of Motoring car.
Under the government rules ASM - Abermule School of Motoring must conform to high standards and the ADI regularly check our standards of tuition.
How long are the driving lessons?
The lessons are usually 1 hour but can be tailored to suit your requirements.
Are there any discounts available?
A discount is available if you purchase 10 hours of lessons in advance.
What should I wear for my lessons?
Be comfortable; in particular make sure that you wear a sensible pair of shoes, no flip-flops, no high heels and no steel cap boots.
Do I receive one to one tuition?
You can be assured that you will receive one to one tuition. You will NOT be expected to pick up or drop off other students during your lesson time.
What if ASM – Abermule School of Motoring are late for my lesson?
We aim to be on time for all lessons but should we be late, we will try to keep you informed and the lesson will be adjusted so you do not loose any valuable time.
How many lessons do I need?
Everyone learns in a different manner, ASM - Abermule School of Motoring will access your driving skills and confidence and provide you with on-going assessment. How many lessons you need will depend largely upon your progress, however a couple of hours a week would be normal.
How do I know how well I am doing?
ASM - Abermule School of Motoring will regularly access your progress and provide you with an update at the end of each lesson.
