Your Practical Test
Your driving test is in two parts – Practical Test and Theory Test. You can only apply to take your practical test once you have passed your theory test. ASM – Abermule of Motoring will help to guide you through your test process.

Practical Test
The practical driving test is carried out by a DSA – Driving Standards Agency examiner;  it will take between 38 to 45 minutes  of driving and manoeuvres. The examiner will start by a simple eye test where you are asked to read a number plate from a distance of approximately 20 meters. You will  then asked 2 questions under the Mechanical awareness heading. The examiner will want to see that you are confident and can drive in a competent and safe manner. You will need to show that you can perceive the situations as they arise and respond with sound judgement. Important Changes to your Driving Test from 4th October 2010

During the driving test you will be asked to conduct two reversing manoeuvres and one in three students will be asked to perform an Emergency Stop. The test will be conducted in busy traffic conditions around the town and then on country roads, all selected to give a fair test. On completion of the test you will receive the result.
